Harvard Lampoon To Release 'Twilight' Parody, 'Nightlight'

The story of Belle Goose and Edwart Mullen hits shelves in November...

These days, everyone's trying to get a piece of the "Twilight" action. And while parodying the Stephenie Meyer vampire saga is nothing new, we're sure the great brains at the Harvard Lampoon will do something original with their first novel in 40 years, "Nightlight."
The book, published by Random House's Vintage Books imprint, will hit your local bookstore on November 3. According to EW.com, it will focus on a young lady named Belle Goose, who is described as "pale and klutzy." When she moves to Switchblade, Oregon, she meets a fellow high school student named Edwart Mullen.
Belle, who has an obsession with vampires, convinces herself that the "super-hot computer nerd with zero interest in girls" is one because does things she considers supernatural like leaving his Tater Tots untouched at lunch and saving her from a flying snowball.
The last time Harvard's undergraduate humor magazine published a satirical novel was in 1969 when it published the "The Lord of the Rings" spoof "Bored of the Rings."
" 'Funny' might get you a blog post these days, but it's the Lampoon-level of satire that makes 'Nightlight' worth every pseudo-bloodsucking, angst-ridden page," says a statement from Vintage. " 'Nightlight' stakes at the heart of what makes 'Twilight' tick ... or, really, cuts to the core of it. ... Brooding and hilarious, let 'Nightlight' be your guide through the 'Twilight' fandom that has eclipsed the mind of every teenager you have ever met."

Fans outraged about 'Robsessed', fight against exploitation of Robert Pattinson

Magazines, posters and t-shirts have preceded New Moon's big debut and fans are going crazy. But that doesn't mean they'll exploit fan favorite Robert Pattinson just to get more of him.
When Revolver Entertainment came out with their behind-the-scenes of Rob DVD they probably thought people would be so "Robsessed" - the title of the DVD - that they wouldn't care where the information came from or the fact the DVD was unauthorized.
A rep for Revolver says it's creative filming.
"The documentary features people Pattinson’s worked with talking about his life, as well as 'industry commentators' and 'a couple of diehard' fans," says Revolver.
The "Robsessed" DVD, costing $19.99 and sold on the Revolver website, was challenged by website police station,GossipCop, when fans of the GC website brought the ordeal to their attention.
"No one we spoke to in the Los Angeles office would say anything beyond asserting that the 'content' of the DVD is completely original," writes GossipCop on their site.
Adding, "We find the unauthorized and often invasive exploitation of stars for profit to be heinous, especially when, as in this case, those stars have been particularly scarred by interactions with the media."
The 23-year-old Twilight hottie makes the girls go crazy and because of the media attention surrounding Rob (and his speculated relationship with Kristen Stewart), the star said it's overwhelming.
"I was getting really paranoid. But then I realized that if tomorrow I say, 'OK, I've had enough we're stopping everything,' it won't change anything. Might as well try to accept it and stay Zen as I have no control over it. It's not always easy. But whining won't change anything."
While Kristen Stewart has told the media she feels the fan pressure and inability to have a "normal" life is fleeting, that doesn't mean fans don't have their backs now.
"We’re very encouraged to see fans stand up to shameless profiteering," writes GossipCop. "Especially when the offending party has wronged not only the celebrity, but also the fans who put time and effort into content without intending to make a dollar from it."

Robert Pattinson's 'Lost' Movie Hits DVD Next Week

Over the last year or so, he has become one of the most closely scrutinized celebrities in the entire world. Every time Robert Pattinson sneezes, it seems like 12 supermarket tabloids run a cover story. So, how is it that the "Twilight" saga superstar could be surprising his fans with a brand-new film that comes out next week? "The Haunted Airman" premieres on DVD on Tuesday, a release date that has taken even RPattz's most loyal fans (who've scrambled to see such little-known flicks as "How to Be" and "Little Ashes") by surprise. It has had little to no publicity on any of Rob's fan sites, and there is little written about the film online. "This Halloween, 'Twilight' heartthrob Robert Pattinson takes a break from playing the vampire Edward Cullen and tries life as a human in a spine-tingling WWII-era ghost story," begins a press release sent to reporters this week announcing the film's impending release. "The supernatural thriller 'The Haunted Airman' stars Pattinson as a wounded Royal Air Force pilot tormented by psychological horrors and a slow descent into madness. Julian Sands ('Ocean's Thirteen,' '24') and Rachael Stirling ('The Young Victoria,' 'Still Crazy') add to the suspense with supporting roles. The film, based on the best-selling 1948 novel 'The Haunting of Toby Jugg' by Dennis Wheatley, premieres to U.S. audiences on DVD via E1 Entertainment on October 13."

Considering that even his not-made films are followed with a fervor, the big question is a simple one: Where did this "lost" Robert Pattinson movie come from? The answer may be as spooky as the ghost story itself.
Filmed five years ago, "The Haunted Airman" was one of Pattinson's first paid gigs as an actor and was shot in the U.K. as "The Haunting of Toby Jugg." The 68-minute movie aired on BBC television in October of 2006 — two years before "Twilight" would make Pattinson a household name. Cast in the title role, RPattz plays a disabled WWII soldier. "Flight Lieutenant Toby Jugg, confined to a wheelchair after being wounded in combat, arrives at a remote mansion in Wales to recuperate," the new press release says of the film's plot. "Suffering terrible nightmares and visions, he suspects the methods of his psychiatrist, Dr. Hal Burns (Sands). Though his beautiful aunt Julia (Stirling) seems to be the only person he can trust, circumstances arise that cause him to doubt even her intentions. Is the lieutenant the victim of an eerie paranormal haunting, or a cruel conspiracy tied to his past?"

Although the release (and the film's artwork) is undoubtedly aimed at Rob's enormous "Twilight" fanbase, the movie features a much-younger-looking Pattinson. "Just as the buzz for the Twilight saga's 'New Moon' begins to reach a fever pitch prior to its November premiere," the press release teases, " 'The Haunted Airman' — in the vein of blood-curdlers 'The Others' and '1408' — delivers Pattinson and otherworldly chills to his legions of fans!"

The rumor mill is at it again...

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart won’t be heading Down Under for a tour of Australia — despite reports to the contrary.


Aussie tabloid Famous on Wednesday claimed the two Twilight stars — who are currently in Vancouver, Canada, shooting Eclipse — would travel around Oz to promote Twilight sequel New Moon, which hits theaters in November.“Movie bosses are pushing for Rob and Kristen to make a promotional push together through Australia,” a source told the mag.

Famous also claimed that negotiations were taking place for Rob and Kristen to put in an appearance at the Australian Nickeloden Kids’ Choice Awards. “An announcement will be pending,” a spokesman for the KCA was quoted as saying.

Kristen’s mother is Australian and Kristen has expressed a desire to visit. “She wants to check out her roots and bring Rob,” the mag quoted another source as saying.

But a Twilight insider insists there’s “no truth to the rumor at all”.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart caught arguing in public?

'Twilight' co stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have been dodging questions about their rumored off screen relationship for months now. The two have been very careful about where they are seen, and what they do while they are in public. The slightest of slip ups and the their faces are plastered all over ever tabloid mag in creation.

The pair have been ultra stealthy, but did they give themselves away over the weekend? Reports have been flying in since the two were seen out together in Vancouver, where they are filming the third installment of the "Twilight Saga, Eclipse."

Pattinson, 23, and Stewart, 19, were spotted at Pinky's Steakhouse on Saturday night, where they dined with friends. After wards, they were forced to leave to a plethora of paparazzi flashing cameras in their faces. They quickly hopped in a cab and sped off. But they couldn't avoid those annoying paps.

The stars fled from the cab and into their hotel as quickly as they could, but they weren't fast enough. The paparazzi followed them in, and caught them waiting for an elevator. But they weren't waiting quietly. A paparazzi caught the two in what seems to be a small argument about something unknown. But the video clearly shows Pattinson apologizing and Stewart snapping back about not continuing until the paps were gone. Some say that the two random people in the shot with them, were a girl and her mother asking for an autograph, and that Kristen wanted to wait until they were out of the public eye before signing it. So, Robsten fans, is this the proof you've been looking for? Are they in fact a couple? These two have quickly become the paparazzi's new favorite target, and unfortunatley it doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon.

There’s been a lot of speculation today about whether Pattinson and Stewart were arguing with each other. We looked again at the video – which we did not post to the site itself last night, which we will not post, and for which we did not pay – and spoke to a number of sources close to the stars. They told us they were NOT fighting. Rather, Pattinson and Stewart were greatly annoyed with the constant and intrusive paparazzi presence, and the fact that, because the hotel lobby was open, someone was able to invade their privacy when all they wanted to do was get in an elevator and put a suddenly very public evening behind them.

Mid-day 'Twilight' news wrap

As is common in the Twilight world these days, the past day has held a nice array of news, so here is a run-down of the latest.


First of all, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade has been a-tweeting again, and this time he's given two very interesting updates. He tweeted this picture of the "meadow" for Eclipse (which differs quite a bit from the meadows in Twilight and what has been shown of The Twilight Saga: New Moon). Also, Slade gave a warm goodbye to Billy Burke (a "lovely fellow" who plays Charlie Swan in the films), who stated that he "[h]ad, once again, an excellent time creating with these peeps another SAGA installment."
Boo Boo Stewart (Seth Clearwater in the films), too, tweeted that he "finished shooting Eclipse."

Meanwhile over on the New Moon side of things, Fangoria released a new still-frame image from New Moon of Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart. The photo and accompanying text were previews of Fangoria's upcoming issue with Edi Gathegi as Laurent on the cover.

That's not the only set of new New Moon images that came down the pike recently. What with the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon: The Official Illustrated Companion, there have been dozens making their way around fan circles - and they're all quite lovely. In addition to the pictures, the issue contains a great deal of new insight into filming, including several unknown secrets about production and the film itself.

One secret, however, wasn't revealed in the issue, and it was instead discovered by RP Life. According to them, Cineplex is reporting that the run-time for The Twilight Saga: New Moon is 2:02. This might not come as a surprise to those who remember Chris Weitz's Comic Con interview where he estimated that being the run-time for the film.

More New Moon footage revealed at Scream Awards...

For the third time this year, the cast of the upcoming New Moon will be presenting never-before-seen footage of the film at the Scream Awards, to be held on Saturday, October 17 in Los Angeles. The show will air on Tuesday, October 27 at 10 p.m. on Spike TV.

The network has yet to release who will be presenting the new New Moon footage, but fans are guessing it'll be the Twilight trio of Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, and Robert Pattinson. The stars have previously unveiled two trailers for New Moon at the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles and the MTV Video Music Awards in New York.

The 2008 film Twilight is also up for several Scream Awards, including Ultimate Scream, Best Fantasy Movie, and Best Ensemble. Acting nods were given to Pattinson, Stewart, Lautner, Ashley Greene (Best Supporting Actress), and Cam Gigandet (Best Villain). The song "Decode" by Paramore is up for Scream Song of the Year.

'New Moon' t-shirt design contest hosted by Cafe Press...

Cafe Press, who makes a ton of authorized Twilight series merchandise, is hosting a The Twilight Saga: New Moon t-shirt contest that ends on October 13th.
There are five categories of design possibilities, and they range everywhere from Edward Cullen-based to "Twi-Hard" inspired.  The descriptions of those particularities are available in the full contest rules.
The prizes available to winners are American Express giftcards and Cafe Press giftcards as well.
The contest is open to citizens of the United States, Canada (but not Quebec), Australia, and the U.K. Custom rules for entry exist for each of those countries.

Robert Pattinson's Life Is Subject Of 'Robsessed' Documentary...

At the age of 23, are you too young to merit a documentary about your life and your impact on the world? Not, apparently, when you're Robert Pattinson. At least, that's what the makers of a new doc have decided.
Revolver Entertainment plans to release a documentary called "Robsessed," which the company claims will offer exclusive peeks into the star's life from his British boyhood and pre-"Twilight" career to the current mania surrounding him.
" 'Robsessed' offers an exclusive, insider's look into the world of RPattz, following his path from a young schoolboy, to his early modeling and acting jobs, all the way through to landing his dazzling role in the 'Twilight' saga," the description on Revolver's Web site says.
"Robsessed" isn't exactly the most original of titles — it's already the name of a fan site (with accompanying Twitter) and a photo-based Tumblr.
The documentary is timed for release on DVD on November 10, shortly before "New Moon," the second of the "Twilight" films, opens in theaters on the 20th. While Pattinson's character, Edward Cullen, is absent for large sections of the Stephenie Meyer book on which the second movie is based, the big-screen adaptation keeps RPattz front and center throughout. His fans wouldn't have it any other way.
"You'll see quite a lot of Rob in the film," "New Moon" director Chris Weitz told MTV News this summer. "I know for a lot of people there's no such thing as too much Rob."

Last Month of Eclipse Filming...

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade has been increasingly silent with his Twitter updates on filming.  But that can only be a good thing, right?  Less tweeting = more work getting done, in theory.  But here’s what he has posted as of right now:

Grueling week or so, rain hail, long days shot through until past midnight last night then joined 2nd Unit today. about 14 hours ago from web
2 days ago spent an entire day shooting in a tent. Today shooting with 2nd unit. Big Thanks to all birthday well wishers its been a good day 11:02 PM Sep 26th from web

Filming started on August 17th, although there were some minor rehearsals before then.  Now that we’re into October, if the shooting schedule holds, there’s less than a month left — it’s expected to end on Halloween.
Then, Slade has seven months or so of time for post-production — getting all the editing and special effects done — before the movie is released on June 30th.
